A pair of Solid Silver Bud Vases 1914 Saturday Half Holiday Cricket Competition
A pair of Antiques solid silver bud vases, Birmingham 1914, 331g, 14.5cm high.
Alexander Clark. Fenchurch Street, London. The company became active in Birmingham, Sheffield and London.
Engraved SHHCC 1931 on the front which (after some research) I believe to be Saturday Half Holiday Cricket Competition or Cup.
Pre-WWII the normal working mans week was 6 and a half days. Many working men's clubs formed Cricket Clubs to play games on a Saturday Afternoon as recreation.
This was also very popular in Australia and New Zealand.
