1809 SOLID SILVER CHRISTENING TANKARD STERLING SILVER GEORGE III

1809 SOLID SILVER CHRISTENING TANKARD STERLING SILVER GEORGE III

London 1809 SOLID SILVER CHRISTENING TANKARD STERLING SILVER GEORGE III

Assayed in London 1809
Maker : Charles Edwards

The cup is of solid construction without any engraving whatsoever. As you can see, the cup is in good condition after so many years.

Dimensions: approx 62mm tall; 55mm diameter base.
Weight: 2.55 troy oz (79.5g).

Condition: Good. A tiny piece of damage to the top of the thumb-piece leaves the edge a little rough (photos 6, 7, & 8).

The top and bottom rims are very slightly out of the round (which hardly detracts).
Wear commensurate with age and use.

Theprice reflects this.

Silver is a precious metal, thus when you give an infant a silver gift you offer a piece of the future health and wealth you desire for the child. Giving a silver for a Baptism means wishing the newborn happiness and prosperity throughout life.

Notes: Lovely Georgian Christening tankard with ribbed design and an applied circular shield to the front.
The piece is in excellent condition for its age, with minor signs of age and use as you would expect from antique silver.
